by Brett Bull

A lucid discussion of this fine roast.

Interesting, almost smirk-worthy ending. But why cha and not coffee? Or did the drink not work on me :D

Barto, The short answer to your question: desperation. A longer answer: Brett's review of a canned beverage from Japan with an interesting fellow featured on it was just too good and too close to what we look for in a coffee review to pass up, especially considering the drought of reviews the site has been suffering from. But of course, we will stay focused on cans of coffee. Care to review one?

I agree, the review is very much in the spirit of past articles. Don't get me wrong; I'm not being negative. I love the reviews here. It is indeed a deplorable affair that submissions have been so scant as of late. If I can ever author a review I honestly consider up to par with the material here in general, I will definitely send in such a contribution.
I am grateful this site has been kept alive for so long.

I second that appreciation of the continuation of this site.
If I were in any way a man of words, I'd be helping out by submitting, but alas, I feel more comfortable with that other aspect of communicating through print.

Also, I can't seem to comment on the latest entry ("Confessions...") - "error on page" - but I found it rather inspiring. I know exactly how he feels when he says he's bored by the dearth of new cans, and that is half of has lessened my enthusiasm for this strange and brilliant beverage product.
I did recently notice an old beer vending machine out here in the suburbs ("Kirin Black"!), and this article has inspired me to head out there before it disappears.

Yep, just read the latest entry as well. I couldn't comment there either, but wow, what a surreal piece! The most candid account of canned coffee obsession I've read so far, and I can relate. It seems almost unreal just knowing there are other people out there with the same ardour for...canned coffee...as me. Without the internet, I would have to think myself an oddball for sure.
I lived only a short while overseas and started collecting cans late, though I acquired some 200 unique cans within a year. Then it seemed new cans appeared on a monthly basis, though of course just variants from the same booming manufacturers. I do have a few truly cool ones though. The cans on Yamazaki-san's website are awe-inspiring though :D
Here's a question for any other collector: how does one go about preserving cans? I am just concerned that they will start to deteriorate a little.

Yeah, storage space would be an issue for me as well. So much so that I've never even considered keeping them, and rather just photograph em with whatever means I have available.

To follow up on that old vending machine, it was well past its use-by date, unfortunately. It was just being used a decorative item outside a grog shop. Was a disappointing day, despite half expecting such a result.
